Here’s a nice essay by Joe Posnanski on what it’s been like to cover the Olympics. I’ve been on the look out for essays like these. I’m sure most Olympic venues have the potential for interesting stories and anecdotes, but as an expatriate of near-London, and as someone that knows all too well how giddy Americans get in the face of a British accent, charming stories like this were, I assumed, a near inevitability. The thought of being anywhere near London during the Olympics makes me want to die, but I can’t say the last few paragraphs didn’t make me a little homesick.
