I’m really not sure why, but I found it kind of funny that Mint categorized our visit to the vet as charity. We found out that one of our dogs is slowly tearing his ACL in half and is going to need surgery in both of his back legs to keep him on his feet for much longer, as well as thyroid meds for the rest of his life, which they estimate costing around $4,500. He’s already unable to walk for more than 5 minutes or so at a time, and it breaks my heart when I see him running in his sleep when he hasn’t been able to run for over a year. There’s no question about whether or not we’ll cough up the dough if we can, even just to give him a few more years, which is realistically all he has left, but it feels more like ransom than charity.
