Finally found time to update Android on my phone. Getting my 2.3 on. Bleeding edge, baby! Open ecosystem, byatch! Most models of my phone were able to get this update a long time ago, but I have a special AT&T-branded one, so I had to wait a little while so they could get it juuuuuust right. We AT&T customers demand a certain level of quality, you know. Anyway, I had to install Windows in VMWare to do it — no, this model doesn’t support over-the-air updates, don’t be daft, that would leave me open to hacking and fusking and sexting. As you no doubt already know, Google has my best interests at heart. And no, there also isn’t an OS X installer for it. This is one of those special models you have to be using Windows for. Yes, I am quite rich, why do you ask? Had to install a driver first though, and then I had to reboot. This is 2012, you just can’t just do things, you’ve got to make the appropriate preparations and restart stuff and make sure it took. Then you have to install the LG Mobile Support Tool, which guides you through the update process. I appreciate the guiding hand, LG. Why can’t all technology treat you this well? As you can see in the picture above, it’s quite difficult to use. Takes a real gentle touch, and a bit of practice. I’ve been trying for a couple of hours, still can’t quite get it right, so I guess this is just part one. Part two soon, hopefully. Can’t wait to join you guys in the Gingerbread club!
